August usually overlaps Rabi al-Awwal, the month in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born — the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal falls around 25 August 2026 and around 15 August 2027. Many UK pilgrims find August a meaningful time to spend in Madinah, studying the Seerah (the Prophet's life) and visiting the sites tied to it, such as Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, Mount Uhud and Masjid Quba. August is still high summer in Saudi Arabia, though it begins to ease from the July peak, especially in the final week. Daytime temperatures in Makkah average 41-45°C (106-113°F), and Madinah is a little lower at 39-43°C (102-109°F). Nights stay warm at 29-32°C (84-90°F). Perform Tawaf at dawn or after dark, keep hydrated with Zamzam water, use the Haram's air-conditioned areas, and dress in light, loose clothing — important advice for families travelling with children or older relatives.

August is the reverse of early summer. Family demand for the school holidays keeps the first three weeks busier and a little dearer, then numbers and prices fall in the last week as the holidays end and children return to school — making late August one of the best-value windows of the year, from around £699 per person. August sits at the tail of the summer heat. Makkah averages 41-45°C in the day and Madinah 39-43°C, with very warm nights of 29-32°C, easing slightly toward the end of the month. The midday sun is intense, so plan all outdoor worship and Ziyarat for the early morning or evening. Light, breathable clothing, sunscreen, an umbrella for shade and constant hydration are essential for an August Umrah.

In August's heat, guided Ziyarat — the tours of historical Islamic sites — is best at dawn or after sunset. With August often in Rabi al-Awwal, the Seerah sites in Madinah are especially meaningful: Mount Uhud, Masjid Quba (the first mosque in Islam), Masjid al-Qiblatain and Jannat al-Baqi.
